Orange Coast College Art Center

Home to both traditional fine arts and commercial arts, the 65,000 square foot Art Center facilities the convergence of two primary circulatory systems and completes a master planned quadrangle that unites the visual lines of force of this community college campus.

Located in Costa Mesa, California, Orange Coast Community College ranks as one of America's largest single-campus community colleges and serves more than 25,000 students.

The need and intent was to pull all divisions together into one building, provide public gallery space and at the same time have the building express distinctions between the art disciplines.

The three-part scheme reconciles the 45 degree orientation of the campus with the orthogonal system of the city beyond.
