This office expansion and renovation for a long time private client involved a 33,000 sf renovation and 9,400 sf addition to an existing office space.
A thorough analysis of daylighting and views led to the introduction of large, sculptural skylights to the open office space which created a comfortable, calming and flexible work environment.
The design addressed problems of glare, acoustics, circulation flow and disconnectedness with features such as automated sun-tracking louvers, an undulating wood slat ceiling, glass guardrails and new stairs.
The client felt strongly about a positive and calming working environment being a recruiting and retention tool for their employees.
The environment is characterized by comfortable work spaces and relaxing break spaces, with views into the adjacent garden, to promote a sense of order and calm amidst fast-paced work
An internal circulation spine links the office space to the neighboring warehouse, connecting the two groups of employees.
