Tucked into the hills east of Silver Lake Reservoir, the Baxter Street Residence is EYRC’s reimagining of modern living.

Designing the street-side entry gate as the front door, the pool deck as the main living area, and the gardens as the private retreat – the residence sits in conversation with mid-century modern masterpieces, all works exploring contemporary ideas of residential dwelling.

On site, feathering black masonry walls follow the existing topography, carving into the hillside to preserve remnants of the adjacent famed Villa Capistrano Gardens, originally designed for Julian Eltinge, America’s first drag superstar.

Gently perched on these walls is a quiet modern architectural volume, opportunely angled to capture sweeping views of the reservoir.

Designed for an aesthete, with a punk and vintage edge, the residence is the creative collaboration of local artisans banded together to answer the call to capture the Silver Lake spirit.
