This extensive renovation resulted in a LEED Platinum designation, and involved reconfiguring and rebuilding 4.5 out of 8 floors of a mixed-use academic building, including the whole building’s elevator and stair core. Additionally, the scope replaced all MEP systems and included FF& E for all renovated spaces.
The renovation included a new lobby entry with storefront glazing for more transparency and large colored wall graphics showcasing student work and speaking to the Otis School of Art and Design program occurring within the building. Also on the 1st floor is an added campus store, as well as updated admissions, and health & wellness departments.
On the 2nd level, the ”one-stop-shop” student services and financial aid department were fitted out, and built-in seating was added to the waiting area.
Renovation to the president’s executive suite was part of the scope and included a comfortable reception and waiting area.
The main conference room and offices received added transparency through interior floor-to-ceiling glazing facing the circulation core.
On the 3rd floor, open studio classrooms and gallery space were added to showcase the program for potential students touring the school.
In addition, multi-media labs were added to the basement, and both a woodshop and a printmaking studio on level 7 were modified.
