Located in the heart of a burgeoning biomedical research community in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Kendall Square Biotech Lab is comprised of medical research laboratories, offices, support spaces and ground level retail.

Completed in 2003, the project was initiated as an invited international design competition.

A design paradigm for the structure was developed to reflect the new technologies emblematic of the biotech world and also relate to the existing architectural fabric of Cambridge. A kinetic interplay is achieved through planar massing of contemporary materials such as terra cotta panels and channel glass in a lively composition of overlapping planes and cubic mass.
