The Hensel Phelps + EYRC Architects + HMC Architects Design-Build team gathered with UC San Diego to celebrate the groundbreaking in La Jolla, CA for the Ridge Walk North Living & Learning Neighborhood. This residential, mixed-use project will add 2,400 beds to campus alongside a market hall, teaching and administrative spaces for Thurgood Marshall College, a total of 19 classrooms including a 150 seat lecture hall and a separate building for the Department of Economics and the School of Global Policy & Strategy.
The new Living and Learning Neighborhood will replace low-rise apartments that have served the university for over fifty years. The project is meant to help meet the increased demand for student housing at a school where enrollment is expected to rise significantly over the next decade. Designed as a new central gathering place on campus, Ridge Walk North will deliver a welcoming and inclusive experience.
